Kobo

Kobo e-readers read EPUB and PDF files as they are, so there's nothing to convert. You just need to get the file onto your Kobo.

With a USB cable

  1. Download the book on your computer.
  2. Connect your Kobo to the computer with its USB cable and tap Connect on the Kobo.
  3. Open the drive called KOBOeReader (in the Finder sidebar on a Mac, in File Explorer on Windows).
  4. Drag the file onto the KOBOeReader drive.
  5. Eject the drive, then unplug the cable.

Your Kobo shows “Importing content” for a moment, then the book appears in My Books.

Without a cable: Dropbox or Google Drive

  1. On your Kobo, tap More, then Dropbox or Google Drive, and follow the steps to link your account.
  2. Linking creates a Rakuten Kobo folder in your Dropbox or Google Drive. Put the file in that folder.
  3. On your Kobo, open Dropbox or Google Drive again and download the book.

If you don't see Dropbox or Google Drive under More, your Kobo doesn't support it. Use the USB cable instead.

Good to know

  • It stays on that Kobo: books you add yourself only appear on the device you added them to, not in the Kobo app.

Reading somewhere else?

There are guides for Kindle and Apple Books. Most other reading apps, like Google Play Books, open EPUB files too: open the file on your device and pick the app. Still stuck? Use the contact form and Louise will help.
